Module #13: Vision, Mission, and Passion - Blueprint - Noah University

Module #13: Vision, Mission, and Passion – Blueprint

Vision: Having the clarity to know just where you want to go.

Andy Stanley puts it this way. “Vision is a mental picture of what could be…fueled by a passion that it should be.” When Mission, Vision, and Passion collide, a powerful thing happens. For most people, talking about vision can be overwhelming. Having vision and direction helps us know where we want to go and to begin charting a course. Without vision, we are just roaming and wandering rather than marching to a destination.

Mission: Clarifying the bulls-eye of your life. Once your mission is written, it’s much easier to hit the target.

Having a life’s mission statement may be one of the most important things we have asked you to create for yourself. Take some time and write out what you want your life to be about. Not only does a mission statement help you with having a bulls-eye; it’s also a great filter to run things through to know if what you are doing is the best use of your time, or if you are just spinning your wheels.

Think of it like this: you are CEO of the Brand of you, and you want to see the organization of you accomplish big things. This mission statement helps you do that.

Just so you have a place to start here are the mission statements that we both use.

This is Noah’s Mission Statement:
Leveraging creativity and power of story to bring hope to the world, to exchange fear for the truth, and to share my passion for igniting people with hope to live out their calling.

This is Terry’s Mission Statement:
To bring hope to places where there is no hope, to help those without direction find purpose, to empower a generation to dream and live God sized-visions for their lives.

Passion: What ignites those places in your heart that just one spark sets the whole thing ablaze.

Mark Twain famously said, “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” Passion is what fuels us to take action and make our hopes and dreams a reality. Sadly, many of us have had the fire of our passion doused by the expectations of others rather than fueled by the innermost desires of our hearts.

This module is about you. We could go on with pages and pages of information, but the best plan of attack is for you to put your mission on paper and put it into action. Now you have a chance to get work on getting these things on paper for yourself. Grab your journal and these questions, and start digging!

Challenge: Post your mission statement below so we can know where you are headed and what you are about.
